Xiogang (Lanxi Zhang)

China

My name is xiogang (Lanxi Zhang), from China. I am currently an independent artist and designer. I first encountered collage while collecting design elements and quickly realized how engaging it was. Gradually, I began to intentionally assemble these fragments into narrative artworks to tell my own stories and reflections. For me, collage is a fast and relaxing artistic practice—almost like a form of “digital flower arranging.” It offers an alternative to drawing or illustration, which often requires a slower process of narration. Through collage, I find both enjoyment and release, as well as an endless source of inspiration.

My work carries a critical perspective. I am particularly drawn to exploring women’s issues, psychological phenomena, emotions, dilemmas, and acts of resistance through collage. I also often integrate abstract philosophical theories into my practice, allowing them to open up new ways of expressing complex ideas. To me, collage is like a series of visual poems: fragments come together to form new narratives and atmospheres. Although I am still at the beginning of my creative journey, I hope to continue developing this practice, exploring further, and creating more playful and thought-provoking works.
